Freshping Alternative: Where to Move After the Shutdown

7 min read

For years, Freshping was a go-to free uptime monitor for freelancers, agencies, and small teams. It quietly checked sites and sent alerts. Now Freshworks has retired it, and many people who relied on it still need somewhere to move their monitors.

This guide covers what actually happened (using Freshworks' own deprecation FAQ), what you can still save, what to look for in a replacement, and an honest look at where ismysiteup fits and where it doesn't.

What happened to Freshping?

Freshworks announced that it would deprecate Freshping. Its official FAQ explains that supporting Freshping "is no longer part of our go forward plan," and lays out the timeline:

  • Free plan accounts were disabled on March 6, 2026.
  • Paid subscriptions are not renewed if they were due to renew on or after March 6, 2026. Renewals made before that date run to their natural expiry, and then the account is disabled.
  • Plan changes and upgrades stopped. You can't move from free to paid, or switch plans.
  • No new features or major updates will be released. Support continues only while an account remains active.

Freshworks doesn't point users to a specific replacement product. The FAQ simply recommends "exploring other monitoring services to ensure continuity."

Can you still export your Freshping data?

It depends on which plan you were on:

  • Free accounts: Freshworks' FAQ gave free users until June 4, 2026 to export. That window has now passed.
  • Paid accounts: you can export until 90 days after your subscription end date. If your paid plan is still running, export now rather than waiting.

According to the FAQ, the export includes monitoring check configurations, status page configurations, and integration configurations (as XML files), plus historical incidents, uptime data, and user details (as CSV files). It's started by an account owner or admin from the in-app banner or Account Settings, and the download link arrives by email within 48 hours. Freshworks also mentions its public API as a way to move configurations to another provider, and a transition team at support.freshping@freshworks.com.

If your export window has closed, don't worry too much. The thing that matters most, the list of URLs you were monitoring, is easy to rebuild from your sites, client list, or DNS records. Historical uptime data is nice to have, but it isn't what keeps your sites safe tomorrow.

What to look for in a Freshping replacement

Before picking a tool, write down what you actually used Freshping for. For most people it's some mix of these:

1. A free plan that's actually usable

Many teams chose Freshping because it was free. Look for a replacement that is free without a trial countdown or a credit card, and check how many monitors it includes, because limits vary a lot between tools.

2. Alerts that you'll actually see

A monitor is only as good as its alerts. If email alerts got lost in your inbox, consider a tool that can message you on the apps already on your phone. We compared the options in email vs Telegram vs WhatsApp downtime alerts.

3. A check interval that fits the site

Five-minute checks are fine for a portfolio. For a store or a lead-generation site, faster checks shorten the time between an outage starting and you hearing about it. Here's how to choose a check interval.

4. Status pages, if you used them

Freshping included status pages. If your clients or users rely on a public status page, make sure your replacement offers one today, not just on its roadmap.

5. Room to grow

Count your current monitors, add some headroom, and check what the next tier costs. Moving tools twice is more painful than paying a little more up front.

Is ismysiteup a good Freshping alternative?

For many former Freshping users it is, but not for everyone. Here's a straight comparison of what ismysiteup offers today, so you can decide.

Where ismysiteup fits well

  • A genuinely free plan. 5 uptime monitors with 5-minute checks, plus 1 Data Monitor, the built-in API client, and endpoint tests. No credit card and no trial clock.
  • Alerts on WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, and email on every plan, including Free. WhatsApp connects through CallMeBot, and Slack uses a free incoming webhook (Slack setup guide). Alerts through your own channels are unlimited, and ismysiteup charges nothing per message.
  • Built for people who manage sites for clients. Group monitors by client or project and see everything in one dashboard.
  • Early warnings beyond up/down. SSL certificate expiry, domain-name expiry, and slow responses are flagged before they turn into outages.
  • "Up but broken" detection. Data Monitors watch a value in your API's JSON (orders, signups, queue depth) and alert you when it stalls, even if the page still returns 200. That's something plain uptime tools miss; see why HTTP 200 isn't always healthy.

Where another tool may suit you better

Being fair about it:

  • You need lots of free monitors. ismysiteup's Free plan covers 5 uptime monitors. If you were watching dozens of sites at no cost, some other tools offer far more free monitors. UptimeRobot's free plan, for example, lists 50 monitors with 5-minute checks.
  • You need a public status page right now. ismysiteup's status pages are listed as coming soon on the pricing page, so if status pages were a core part of your Freshping setup, you'll need another solution for those today.
  • You need specialised monitor types or multi-location checks. If you relied on these, confirm that your replacement supports them before you migrate.

How to move your monitors in about 15 minutes

You don't need a big migration project. Most people can rebuild their setup in one sitting:

  1. Make a list of your URLs. Use your Freshping export if you have one; otherwise list every site, plus key pages like checkout, login, and contact forms, and any API health endpoints.
  2. Check each one first. Paste each URL into the instant site checker (free, no signup, 5 checks per hour) to confirm it returns the status you expect before you start monitoring it.
  3. Create a free account. Sign up with email or Google, with no credit card needed.
  4. Add your most important monitors first. On Free, that's your top 5. Set the expected status code for each one.
  5. Connect your alert channels. Add WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, or email in your notification settings, so the alert reaches whoever needs to act on it.
  6. Group monitors by client or project so an alert immediately tells you whose site has the problem.
  7. Cancel anything you no longer need. If you're still on a paid Freshping plan, remember that it won't renew. Export your data before the 90-day window after your plan ends closes.

Frequently asked questions

Is Freshping still working?

Free Freshping accounts were disabled on March 6, 2026. Paid plans that renewed before that date keep working until they expire, and then the account is disabled. No renewals are processed on or after March 6, 2026.

Can I still sign up for Freshping or upgrade?

No. According to Freshworks' FAQ, plan changes and upgrades, including moving from free to paid, are no longer supported.

Did Freshworks recommend a replacement?

Not a specific one. Its FAQ recommends exploring other monitoring services to ensure continuity.

Is ismysiteup free?

Yes. The Free plan includes 5 uptime monitors with 5-minute checks, 1 Data Monitor, the API client and endpoint tests, and WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, and email alerts, with no credit card required.

Does ismysiteup have status pages like Freshping?

Not yet. Status pages are listed as coming soon. If you need a public status page today, plan for a separate solution.

Don't leave your sites unwatched

The real risk of a monitoring shutdown isn't losing old uptime charts. It's the weeks where nobody is watching and the first sign of an outage is a message from a client. If Freshping used to be your safety net, put a new one in place today.

Create your free ismysiteup account and move your most important sites first, or start by checking one URL with the instant checker.
